Lighting
The HBA building formerly had four T-12 lamps (fluorescent tubes) in each ceiling fixture with an old magnetic ballast.
With the lighting upgrade, each fixture was updated so that only two T-8 lamps were needed.
New electronic ballasts also save energy and reduce flickering.
In addition to new ceiling fixtures, the HBA replaced incandescent lights with compact fluorescent and LED bulbs, and installed occupancy timers in the bathrooms to turn off lights automatically when not in use.
These improvements reduced the amount of electricity used for lighting by about 73 percent! Learn more by watching the video below.
